About Me

Welcome to my engineering portfolio! You will find my professional statement, personal engineering process, accomplishments, and engineering artifacts on this site.

I'm recently graduated with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida. I graduated from Kansas State University and obtained a Bachelor of  Science degree in December 2019. I transferred from Yanshan University to K-State in 2016. I had a great interest in mechanical structure when I was very young. I was trouble for my parents in my childhood because I tried to break anything with mechanical structure. I disassembled many mechanical devices in good condition, such as my grandpa’s antique clock, but, to be honest, I just wanted to know the structure inside it and how did it work. When I was 10, I still loved to disassemble some small handy devices, but the difference was I would do my best to reassemble it after I figured out what was inside it. It also made me familiar with normal device structures, and I even could repair them. Till now, my parents sometimes will need me to repair a radio or a washer. When I need to choose a major in University, there is nothing to stop me from picking Mechanical Engineering. I went to every class with a great passion and tried to learn as much as I could. Nothing is better than making something operated following your order just by plugging in some wires and typing a couple of lines with assembly language.

I had a great sense of achievement whenever I solved a mechanical problem. Therefore, I was involved in many design projects in the ME department, such as the Automatic sorting system design project, Secondary gear reducer design project, Aluminum tube rising diameter device design project, Automatic combine header transport kit design. You can find details of them from the artifacts page on my website. These projects covered many pieces of knowledge strongly related to my major. I learned how to apply the theory to real engineering problems and how to achieve teamwork. Also, it showed my design ability in the machinery field. Considering all the details of my design, I had a better understanding of design processes and the mechanical material evaluation.

I learned a lot from my internship in China First Heavy Industries in the summer of 2016. I worked as an engineer assistant in the factory for more than a month. I was delighted to get this opportunity because it was the first time that I could operate so many different Metal-working machines. I learned to use the numerically controlled lathe, mill, grinder, hobbing machine, boring machine. Also, I was trained to understand some complex machining drawings which were helpful to my further career.

I also focused on building my leadership ability. I joined the Student Government when I was a sophomore, and I was elected to be the vice president in my junior year at Yanshan University. It was a challenge to me that I had to manage a 200 people organization and took care of all the routine matters. Since I was not afraid of solving problems, I did an excellent job in the entire term. My colleagues and I helped the university to organize five big events, such as Graduation performance and design competitions.

It's a great honor to graduate from the University of Florida where is full of Innovation and Inspiration. I got so many chances to interact with my engineering process. I find my path of future and the responsibility to be an engineer. UF is an important turning point in my life. I will always be grateful. Also, I was so excited to be invited to join the Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma. Furthermore, it's a huge encouragement to obtain some accomplishments during my student journey.

Again, Welcome to my engineering portfolio! Hope you will find something helpful.
