Secondary gear reducer design

Introduction
It was an individual project that received from the Mechanical Engineering department at Yanshan University. I designed a secondary gear reducer with specific gear ratio and graphed it on an A0 paper with all the details. Also, a 3D drawing was created, and a detailed report was documented at the end of this project. This project last one month.

It demonstrated my design ability in machinery field. With considering all the details on my design, I had a reinforced understanding of design and material for the mechanical products. Also, I had improved my engineering graph skill which is the base skill for a prospective engineer.

Achievement
The main contents of this project were the design and analysis of the transmission system, the technical design, analysis of the transmission scheme, the structural design and assembly of the transmission system, the formulation of precision and tolerance of the components, and the economic and safety analysis of the reducer. The overall transmission design was carried out, in which the gear design was carried out by the tooth surface contact fatigue strength, and the root bending fatigue strength check was used. The design of the shaft was carried out, and the strength of the shaft was checked with the allowable bending stress method. A bearing selection was made and life calculations were performed by calculating the basic rating life.
